Illustration
I have devoted much of my life to my musical pursuits, but my first love was illustration. I have fond memories of my father occasionally surprising me by bringing home comic books because he had also enjoyed them as a youngster. The best was when he would bring them to me for comfort if I was ever home from school from being sick. They always made me feel better. It wasn't long before I was inspired to draw some heroes of my own.
I first started enjoying drawing at a very young age because I greatly looked up to my big sister, Nancy, who was already a very gifted cartoonist (now a published children's book illustrator). I thought it was so cool that she was so good at drawing, and I wanted to be like her. We would draw cartoons to make each other laugh...and we would laugh...a lot. It was the best feeling when one of my crude drawings (compared to Nancy's at the time) would get a laugh from my big sister. Still is. We still do that from time to time.
I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication - Illustration from Winthrop University in 2005. After that I chased my musical dreams for quite some time. I am now pursuing a Master of Fine Arts - Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design, a dream come true for me.
Here is some of my work. Hope you dig it.
